The History of Eaglewingz Brand Hot Sauces and Delaware Sauce Company. ​

A little of this and a little of that

Our journey began back in 1988

EagleWingz Brand Hot Sauce Is An Original Flavor Created In 1988 By Delmarva Native Rick Ewing. The Sauce Came Together For Rick While Vacationing With Some Friends. He Took A Little Of This And A Little Of That In About 20 Minutes Or So, And The Original Flavor Hasn’t Changed Much Since. Rick’s Sauce Quickly Became A Hit With Family And Friends Who Would Later Push Him To Bottle And Sell His New Recipe.

Over The Next Couple Years, The Sauce Could Be Found In A Handful Of Local Restaurants, Including Rick’s RC Ribs Where EagleWingz Hot Wings Became A Customer Favorite. 2010 Was The Year Rick Finally Decided To Bottle And Sell His Sauce To The Masses. With a Storefront in Seaford, DE and a New Website, Rick Has Sold Thousands of Bottles And EagleWingz Brand Has Become A Favorite In Many Areas Across Delmarva And Has Even Won A Few Awards Along The Way.

In 2014, Eaglewingz Was Awarded With The Best Of Delaware Award For Sauces. 2016 Saw The Flagship Chesapeake Brand Sauce Win 3rd Place In The World Hot Sauce Awards In Louisiana. Round That Off With Another 3rd Place Win In 2017 For The Sauce Shack Redemption Sauce And A 1st Place Screaming MiMi Award For The Pineapple Teryaki And We Feel Pretty Good About Our Sauces.

Where We Are Today

Today you can find Rick’s original sauce and many other Eaglewingz flavors all over the Eastern Shore. From the Delaware Sauce Company store at 639 N. Phillips St in Seaford, DE to many restaurants and retail shops all over the shore. You may not recognize the bottles everywhere you go (thanks to a very successful Private Label Sauce program), but there is no denying the amazing taste once you get it opened.  

We truly appreciate the amazing support over the years from all of our loyal customers. Stay tuned because we are just getting started.

Rick has been making our original hot sauce for his friends and family since the 80's, but didn't trademark and start bottling it until 2010. Since then, our hot sauces have taken off, being featured in the Bon Appetit magazine, being recognized by the Best of Delaware, and winning national and international awards.
